Final Project Reflection

I always wanted to make a maze game when I was working with scratch. Now was my opportunity to do it. I didn't want to do the classic cat and mouse game. I thought that would be to easy. So i decided to do what i wanted and to make the maze game. I wanted to have the bat go through the maze and end up on the bear. Th only broken thing about this game is that when the bat touches the inside lines, it doesn't go back to start. I tried to troubleshoot it but i just couldn't find a solution. Other than that though, everything works fine. I tested my game by running through it and see if it's smooth and working. I'm pretty happy with my final project.

Debug it 5 + reflection

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23507974/

Reflection:
One strategy that i used was guess and check. I guessed with some blocks and i checked by pressing play. This strategy was the best one for de bug it.

If i was to help someone else I would give them helpful hints on how to debug it. I  would probably just tell them what block to use.

Background Change Remix

Changing the backdrop was a lot easier than I expected it to be. I just had to add in the block "When I Recieve Message 6" and then "Switch To Backdrop ___" It was very simple and self explanatory. I was very pleased with it.

Broadcast Remix+R eflection

Using broadcast in Scratch is like sending a text message. Once you receive the message you send it back. In scratch you use a block to send out the broadcast and use a different block to receive the broadcast.

Make a Block Project

      <iframe allowtransparency="true" width="485" height="402" src="http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/embed/23088650/?autostart=false" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Make a block was quite simple. Making a block is pretty much just taking one set of code and having it only in one block. It is easy to do and it is very helpful. You would use it when you want to use the set of code a lot.

Debug it Reflection

A debugging strategy that i used was guess and check. I did very educated guess's though. And most of the time it worked out well. If I was to teach someone how to debug something on Scratch, i would tell them to take there time and to do educated guess and checks to figure out the bug. They would also have to get acquainted with the program to understand what they are doing.

Scratch Reflection

1. One thing that surprised me was how simple the design of Scratch is. It was easy to pick up and learn. It was easy to find the blocks and understand how to put them together.

2. I didn't like how it brought me through the tutorial step by step. I felt like I already knew how to do it and the tutorial just slowed me down

3. I like having enough structure to let me do what i want with Scratch. I feel like i dont have enough freedom though. There arent that many options for blocks and I wish i could make my own blocks. I would be most creative if I can make my own blocks.

Webpage Design

When I first started the webpage, I had no idea what to do and how to build it. But i asked a classmate and he got me started on it. I had huge expectations for what i was going to do, so I scraped my plans and just improvised it. It came out a lot better then I thought it would. One problem that i had was with the links. The links didn't do what I wanted them to do. But i figured them out and I got it to work. The pictures were really easy, but I wish i was able to place them where i wanted them to go. They just kind of appeared on my page. I also wanted to be able to change the font. But i wasn't able to figure it out. Overall, I had fun figuring it out but it was also a little frustrating.

School Grades

Back in elementary school the school work was so easy compared to high school. In high school our grades actually mean something. If you have horrible grades in high school, your future wont be as good as if you had great grades.

Grades are important, especially junior year because that is when you start to think about college. Plus you have the SATs. Freshman year grades are also important because it impacts what classes you take sophomore year. Which then impacts what classes you take junior year.

Mozilla Thimble

The Mozilla Thimble site is a really good way to customize posters and memes to your liking. It's also a good way to get better at coding. Its very simple and easy. I'm not very good at coding but i found this site very easy to do what I wanted to do with the poster.
